Dastar Bandi Competition At Akal Academy Bilga

Dastar is an identity, a depiction of who we are. Turban is not an ordinary piece of cloth rather it is a symbol of one’s pride and religion. It is an article of faith symbolizing self-respect, courage and tradition. Although no one knows exactly when or where the Dastar originated, Sikhs around the world wear a Dastar – or turban – as an article of faith, symbolizing the values of discipline, honesty, integrity, ethics, spirituality and humility. There cannot be a better way for a Sikh to show off his style. Turban is one of the most distinguishing symbols of Sikhism.
