A walkathon “Race against drugs” was organized at AA Bilga on 14-11-2018 from Village Nagra. More than 100 students and 10 teachers participated in it. Flag off was done by Mr. Jagdish Kumar (S.M.O.) Bilga with his team. S. Tarlochan Singh (Health Supervisor of Primary Health Centre), Dr. Raj Kumar and the Asha workers from nearby villages also accompanied them. Mr. Davinder Johal Journalist of the Punjabi Jagran and Fastway News channel, Mr. Vinod Batra from Time T.V. were also present there. S. Harbhajan Singh (Pardhan Gurudwara- Nagra) including Sarpanch of Jaitowal S. Manjit Singh and members of Gurudwara Parbandak Committee also welcomed the students and staff. The chief guests were honoured by the Principal Ms. Harpreet Kaur Sahni with mementoes, Seropas, badges and certificates. Mr. Jagdish Kumar (S.M.O.), S. Tarlochan Singhand Dr. Raj Kumar addressed the gathering against the drugs. They motivated the students to have pledge not to have drugs and stop the nearby persons in this regard. They also told the students about the negative effects of drugs in detail. They also shared their life experiences regarding drugs with the students.
They were subsequently thanked by principal. The response of the people was good. More than 1000 Pamphlets were distributed among the villagers. Village authorities provided refreshment to the students. This rally covered more than 15 KM areas of the different villages. Students raised slogans against the burning evil drugs. The inspiring banners, stickers and flexes were the centre of attraction. People appreciated this step taken by the Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib.
