Taking another leap towards enrichment of our staff Akal Academy organised workshop for their Teachers, Coordinators and Principals on the new teaching resources. It was conducted on 12th and 13th July at five different locations spread over Punjab.
The 2 day Level 1 workshop was held in collaboration with prominent educationist & resource persons sponsored by publishers [Cambridge Press Trust, Oxford, Pearson, MacMillan, and Collins]. 1200 Teachers from 119 Akal Academies of Grade I – VIII attended. The five different venues were AA Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo, AA Dhanal Kalna in Jalandhar, AA Dhotian in Tarn Taran, AA Fatehgarh Channa in Patiala, and AA Muktsar in Sri Muktsar Sahib.
The participants will now be eligible to attend the Level 2 workshop which will upgrade them to the category of trainers for training our other teachers.
The subjects covered in the program were English Science and Maths. The emphasis was on utilising active learning modules. A remarkable feature of this particular workshop was the Hands on Module where participants in small groups were asked to create their own teaching tools.
These professional development workshops are part of our endeavour to improve activity based learning. These forums also provide opportunities to teachers to share experiences and learn from each other
