Baishakhi Celebration
Baishakhi is a spring harvest festival. It marks the Sikh New Year and commemorates the formation of “ Khalsa Panth” of warriors under Guru Gobind Singh on 13th April 1699. It was also the day when colonial Bristish empire officials committed the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre on a gathering .
The Students and staff of Akal Academy Ahmadpur Darewala celebrated Baisakhi on 13th April 2021 with great zeal & enthusiasm. The school was decorated with colourful kites and wheat sticks along with various posters painted by the the teachers and the students of the Academy. A Special assembly was held to mark the occasion.
The celebration began with the recitation of the shabad “Deh shiva bar Mohe Ehe……”followed by “ Nasro mansoor Gur Gobind Singh ….”,” Vaho Vaho Gobind Singh ape gur chela …….”. A number of poems were recited by the students, they gave speeches on the auspicious occasion . They also performed choreography enthusiastically. The programme was concluded by the Principals’ inspiring speech. Everyone participated energetically.
