In India, Teachers’ Day is celebrated annually on September 5 to mark the birthday of a great scholar, philosopher and Bharat Ratna awardee, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Born on September 5, 1888, Dr Radhakrishnan was the first Vice-President of India and the second President of India. Dr Radhakrishnan is well-known for his notable work as a teacher, philosopher and scholar.
Teachers’ Day was celebrated at Akal Academy, Baru Sahib along with the rest of the country. Students of the CBSE, Cambridge International and the IB-PYP participated in the celebration along with teachers. Students organized a number of programs including fun games for teachers to show their love and respect towards their teachers and make it a memorable day for them.
