Industrial Visit – Leather Complex, Jalandhar

An industrial visit was organized for students to the Council of Scientific
and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Central Leather Research Institute
(CLRI) on 4 th December 2024. The visit was organized to enhance the
students' practical knowledge and give them insights into industry
practices and cutting-edge research in their respective fields.
Objective of the Visit

applications.
3. To expose students to advanced technologies and research
methodologies in science and leather industries.
4. To encourage students to explore career opportunities in research and
development.
Schedule
Introduction to the institution and its role in national development.
Demonstration of advanced technologies in fields such as biotechnology,
material science, and environmental research.
Overview of leather production processes and sustainable practices.
Interaction with researchers on leather testing, product development, and
export standards.
Key Observations and Learnings
1. At CSIR, students gained insights into the applications of scientific
research in addressing real-world challenges, particularly in the
domains of health, energy, and agriculture.
2. At CLRI, students learned about the environmental impacts of leather
production and the innovative approaches being adopted for
sustainable leather processing.
