World Book Day Celebration at Akal Academy Fatehgarh Ganduan
Under the noble guidance of The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib, Akal Academy Fatehgarh Ganduan celebrated World Book Day with great enthusiasm by organizing an engaging and educational Book Fair on campus.
The event showcased a wide array of classic and contemporary literary masterpieces by celebrated authors from around the world. Students and teachers actively participated, exploring the diverse collection with genuine curiosity and enthusiasm. Nearly all the books on display were issued by students, demonstrating a strong interest in reading and literature.
This meaningful initiative was a significant step toward connecting the younger generation with the timeless power of books and the beauty of language.
On this special occasion, Principal Madam Anuradha Babbar addressed the students, explaining the global importance of World Book Day, which is celebrated on April 23rd. The date holds historic literary relevance, marking the death anniversaries of three iconic writers:
William Shakespeare – The legendary English playwright (died April 23, 1616)
Miguel de Cervantes – The famous Spanish novelist (also died April 23, 1616, under a different calendar)
Inca Garcilaso de la Vega – Renowned Peruvian writer (died April 23)
In 1995, UNESCO declared April 23rd as World Book and Copyright Day to honor authors and promote the importance of reading, publishing, and intellectual property rights.
The celebration not only brought literature to life but also left a lasting impression on young minds, inspiring them to dive deeper into the world of books.
