Van Mahotsav, a week-long festival of tree plantation is organized every year in the first week of July across India when millions of trees are planted. In an earnest attempt to lend a green touch to the school environment and sensitize the students about their role in conserving it, AKAL ACADEMY HOLI BARARA celebrated Van Mahotsav 2020 virtually.The celebration was an ideal opportunity to instil the value of social responsibility in the students towards safeguarding trees and forests. The focus of the celebration was towards forming a personal connection between the students and trees through a process of experience, reflection and creation, carried out through various activities. The students fromPre-Nur to K.G participated in a plantation programme wherein different types of Outdoor and Indoor plants were planted by the students and their family members. Students of Our Kindergarten section were dressed well in Nature Themed costumes. It was an educational and informative session for the students. Some students participated in Painting Activities for eg:- Thumb painting, Animal paintings, vegetable paintings making competition to promote environmental awareness. Every student made a poster on the topic ‘MORE TREES,MORE LIFE’ Each poster had a unique story to tell and spread the message that the green planet they live must be protected and cared for. Activities performed by the kinder’s are as follows:- • Sapling of plants • DIY indoor plants wall hangings • Thumb, Vegetable, Animal painting Worksheets • Nature crafts- Leaf crowns, Tree/leaf costumes or dresses Van Mahotsav week came up to be a big success. The events helped to bring awareness about the green cover around us. It also helped in strengthening the bond between plants and humans. Students got to learn a lot and will always cherish the memories of this important occasion.
