Baisakhi marks the Sikh New Year and commemorates the formation of Khalsa Panth of warriors under Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1699. Vaisakhi is one of the most important dates in the Sikh calendar. It is a day to celebrate the year when Sikhism was born as a collective faith. It marks the start of the Punjabi New Year.
Baisakhi was celebrated at Baru Sahib with full devotion. Weeklong celebrations were organized including recitation of poems by PYP students, Shabad Gayan and other programs. PYP Students exhibited their skills in Gatka. Nagar Kirtan was held on 13 April in which all the students of the PYP Block joined the other residents of Baru Sahib in the procession.
