Mock Parliament

Written by Akal Events

A Mock Parliament session was organized at Akal Academy, Raipur Peer Bakhsh Wala on 2nd August
2025, focusing on the Women Reservation Bill 2023. The event was part of the academy’s initiative
to promote civic awareness, public speaking, and an understanding of the Indian legislative process
among students.

Students from Grades 9th to 12th actively participated, taking on the roles of Members of
Parliament, Speaker, opposition leaders, and ministers. The session followed the official
parliamentary procedure and was conducted in three structured readings:

  1. First Reading: The bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha, where its objectives and significance were
    presented.
  2. Second Reading: The bill was thoroughly debated, with students representing both supporting and
opposing viewpoints, discussing its implications on Indian politics and gender equality.
  3. Third Reading: After healthy debate and deliberation, the bill was passed in the Lok Sabha with
    majority support.

Subsequently, the bill was sent to the Rajya Sabha, where further discussions took place, followed by
approval. Finally, the bill was forwarded to the President for final assent, completing the legislative
process.

The event not only enhanced students’ understanding of parliamentary proceedings but also
sparked meaningful conversations around women’s representation in politics. The enthusiasm,
preparation, and presentation by the students were commendable, making the event both
educational and impactful.
