Akal Academy, Raipur Peer Bakshwala, organized a Shabd Gayan Competition on 3rd July 2025 to
commemorate the spiritual legacy of Sant Teja Singh Ji, a great Sikh saint and educationist. The
competition aimed to inspire students to stay connected with Sikh spiritual traditions through the
recitation of Gurbani.
Students from Grades 4th to 8th enthusiastically participated in the event, presenting melodious and
soulful renditions of Gurbani Shabads. Their performances reflected devotion, discipline, and deep
understanding of the divine verses.
The event began with the school’s daily prayer, followed by a brief introduction to the life and
contributions of Sant Teja Singh Ji. The competition was judged on the basis of melody (sur), rhythm
(taal), clarity of pronunciation, and overall presentation.
The results of the competition are as follows:
First Position: Eknoor Singh, Grade 6
Second Position: Gursimrat Kaur, Grade 7
Third Position: Ekamjot Singh, Grade 4
The Principal Madam congratulated all the participants and especially the winners for their
remarkable performances. She encouraged students to keep participating in such spiritual events to
remain rooted in their culture and values.
The event concluded with Ardaas (prayer) and a vote of thanks to all teachers and students who
made the competition a success. It was a spiritually enriching experience for everyone present.
