Dedicated to Baisakhi and Khalsa Sajna Diwas, a special turban competition was organized at Akal Academy Rampur Sundara on April 11. The main objective of this program was to connect the students with their rich Sikh heritage and create awareness among them about the importance and respect for the turban.Students from different classes participated in this competition with great enthusiasm. The students were divided into different groups:Beautiful Turban: The children displayed their art by decorating a turban with tassels in a very elegant and beautiful way.Time Limit: During the competition, a challenge was also given to decorate the turban within the specified time.Decorating Dumala: The students captivated everyone by decorating ‘Dumala’, the traditional style of the Nihang Singhs.The winners were selected by a panel of teachers and experts based on the following criteria:The shape and cleanliness of the turban.Screw arrangement.Cleaning the back of the neck and under the chin.Confidence in wearing a turban.The event concluded with chants of ‘Bole So Nihal’. This competition proved to be a commendable step in strengthening self-esteem and religious identity among the students.*”The turban is the crown of the head, it is our identity.”*
